This responsibility includes: worship support, including Sunday services, special services, baptisms, funerals and wedding services; serving Holy Communion in church and to members at home; tending to the spiritual needs of the congregation along with the Pastor; tending to their own growth as spiritual leaders of the church; scheduling greeters, ushers, readers coffee hour hosts.

The Deacons maintain the Deacons Benevolence Fund which provides emergency relief within the church family and in the community at the discretion of the Deacons and the Pastor. A special collection is taken each month on Communion Sunday. The Deacons also host an Annual Dessert Auction on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the proceeds of which are used to replenish the Benevolence Fund.

Throughout the program year the Deacons host several special events including the Homecoming Brunch, Good Friday Stations of the Cross, and the Easter Sunrise Service and Breakfast.

Reader Workshop

Sunday, February 24th

Come brush up your worship reading skills and/or break down the barriers to reading Scripture aloud in worship. We will meet for less than an hour at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, February 24 in the Café/Upper Vestry. In that time, we will laugh, and pray, and learn:
* how do I prepare to read a scripture - what can I do ahead of time?
* with what words can the scripture be introduced?
* what can be said at the conclusion of the reading (does it differ for gospels)?
* what can I do if I don't completely understand what the scripture is saying?
* tips for reading the scripture aloud
Led by Pastor Lourey and the Deacons. All are welcome!
