Sunday Worship and Special Services:

About our Worship Service:

  • When you arrive you will most likely be greeted by a greeter at the front door and an usher once in the Sanctuary. The ushers will hand you a worship program, "the Order of Worship," which will tell you everything you need to know (words to say, hymns to sing, when to stand up).We like to say we enjoy a "balanced" style of worship, incorporating some beloved traditional hymns - like Amazing Grace or Holy, Holy, Holy - and contemporary and global music -  like Lord, I Lift Your Name on High or Uyai Mose ("Come, All You People"). Our worship is a mix of formal and informal: our choir and pastor wear robes, but everyone else wears whatever they want!
  • Attendance pads come through the pews during the first hymn and are a way for us to contact you and acknowledge your visit. Please give us enough information that we can acknowledge your visit.
  • We often have a time when we invite the kids present to come forward and have a time we call "Worshipping with our Children." An adult will share a Children's Sermon: a story or a Childrens sermonconversation about a topic relevant to the day's themes. They then close with a prayer and invite the kids to leave for Sunday School.
  • After the Sunday School dismissal, worshippers hear a sermon prepared by our pastor or a guest preacher, usually based on a Bible passage suggested by a calendar of weekly Bible readings, called "the lectionary."
  • We often share prayer concerns and celebrations during a part of the service we call "Joys and Concerns." Participants can name places, people or situations they would like to have prayed for - in thanksgiving or concern - and the worship leader will lift them up in a spoken prayer we call the "Pastoral Prayer."
  • We collect an offering each Sunday, inviting members and regular worshippers to contribute financially to our ministries, serving the larger community and nurturing our own members. You do not have to contribute to the offering. You are our guest!
  • On the first Sunday of the month we celebrate Holy Communion, the commemoration of Jesus' Last Supper with his disciples. Everyone is welcome to share Communion. We serve grape juice and gluten-free bread.
