Season of Lent

Eventide Service ~ Saturdays 5:00-6:00pm

Feeling burned out? Spiritually stale? Now is the time to consider a new spiritual practice for the season of Lent. Beginning on Saturday, March 7, an ecumenical, musical service for prayer and reflection will be offered every Saturday at 5:00pm. This service is designed to be about 40 minutes long, with minimal social pressure. Come for a sabbath in time and space. Come for awe and peace in common with friends who have differing beliefs. There is room here for all.

 Lenten Study

Lenten Devotional

For Lent this year, our community is invited to consider reading We Make the Road By Walking by Brian McLaren. There is one reading for each week in a year, and we’ll start with week 27 on March 1. Folks are encouraged to read along and do the reflections at least during Lent, but to consider (as you get into the rhythm) inviting others to share impressions and reflections with you, over the dinner table, over coffee, or in a small group.

A sign-up sheet is available for those who already know they’d like to start with a group. One group will meet after worship beginning Sunday, March 1 gathering at the home of Marilyn Holman, 148 Mechanic Street, Upton. A second group will meet on Thursday evenings, 7:30pm, beginning March 5 in the fireside room at the United Parish.
